Designed the user experience and launched the web-based software of the world’s first data-aware scale-out NAS (network-attached storage). Under my leadership, Qumulo earned the following: System Usability Scale 89.5 for the overall product, NPS 76. The UX of the product was one of the top 3 reasons to purchase cited by customers. Managed and scaled a small UX team of 3 to perform like a team of 6. Full stack hands-on UX from strategy to graphic design. As of 04/2018, Qumulo is valuated at $550 million and recognized as a leader in 2018 Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage. Inventor on a utility patent.

Shaped both buyer’s and seller’s experiences for cloud solutions deployed onto AWS as a cloud-based software solutions on a SaaS model. Created the official logo and provided thought leadership at Amazon design community’s monthly meetups.

Reduced the operational cost by improving the usability of Washington Mutual’s SharePoint intranet (wamu.net), accessed by ~50,000 employees. Notable outcome: Increased adoption of WaMu’s Software Development Life Cycle intranet, while decreased employees’ time spent on info finding on the site (35,000 employees x 2 hours saved per week = 70,000 hours that can be reallocated to more productive work). Hands-on work included information architecture redesign, user research, usability guidelines, templates, interaction design, UI design, and brand style guides. Partnered with business stakeholders, designers, software and UI engineers.

Designed and launched: MetaStories in April 2001. Our product, StoryMaker, made it easy for businesses to create and share multimedia stories online. MetaStories also offered UX design services in which I led teams to or solely designed and launched the following notable products: Gatesfoundation.com, the Official 2002 Olympics and NBC Olympics websites, Discovery Channel Health multimedia website; Pearl Jam 2003 tour multimedia website; Kodak You’ve Got Pictures desktop app; Real-One music app first run experience, Seattle Seahawks’ first multimedia interactives.

Designed and launched Live Video, multimedia stories, co-branded products or websites, and advertising campaigns. Standardized MSNBC.com site-wide UX patterns. All of this within the confines of w640 x h480 and the controversial w800 x h600 screen pixels.
